Cauac Twins Tesla Coils

Cauac Twins Tesla Coils by eecue.
They look blurry, but if you zoom in the bolts arc in crazy patterns.

These coils were created by Syd Klinge

Did you zoom all the way in and see the crazy patterns the arcs form?

Wow. I'd guess those crazy patterns are because (a) the exposure is one second, so you have plenty of time to see multiple bolts form, take shape, disappear, and (b) the bolts' luminosity is oscillating very regularly -- perhaps at 60Hz, the frequency of standard AC power?

Oh no, they're way higher than 60 Hz... tesla coils are high voltage, high frequency electricty... probably in the gigahertz or megahert level. I'm guessing the patterns have something to do with frequency drift.

Tesla coils just rule, and apparently, photographing them does also! =)

BTW, those look like the 100,000 volt coils and yeah, probably in the gigahertz range

I will be shooting it again, but I don't think I'll be able to manage an apprentice. Sorry about that!

Nope, Artist Transportation however, they give us all access passes and I'm gonna try to make it into the pit during off times. Perhaps I will see you there!
