data just in! - 23andMe demo

This is a set of screen shots from 23andMe. I'm on the board, an investor... and a customer! Moreover, I have signed up 30 family members - viral marketing at its best!

Now the data is starting to come in and the results - like so much data about oneself - are fascinating...

In case you're wondering about privacy issues - and there are many - here's part of a note I wrote to some of the people whose names you see listed:

just wanted to be punctilious about this and let you know that your name (but not your data or even your similarity to someone) will appear in screenshots in my Flickr stream (and probably elsewhere), showing relationships among my family members (those from whom I have gained explicit consent).

I wrote a more detailed message to the family members whose data you see.

The data show Mendelian genetics and chance at work... there will be much more to say - and show - over time.

Also note: the names along the side have nothing to with the specific chromosomes. That's a UI glitch that will shortly be remedied.
