Pretty Chilly

Pretty Chilly

Taken for the Active Assignment Weekly group.
This week's assignment: Beauty in the Ordinary.

Back at home, getting ice from the freezer thought it would make a nice subject.

WIT: Tripod. Put the ice in a clear bowl. Lighting is from my flash behind the ice with blue cellophane covering the flash. In PS and Noiseware cleaned up noise and sharpened.

Ordinary Reflections

Ordinary Reflections

Taken for the Active Assignment Weekly group.
This week's assignment: Beauty in the Ordinary.

We are on Holiday/Vacation this week as well and finally found some free time after dinner. I haven't posted to AAW in a few months. I volunteered to help maintain a website for my daughter's band but have ended up being the webmaster. There were a lot of things to get done, and never having done any web-publishing before, I had a lot to learn, so went my AAW time. This was taken in the kitchen of the beach house we are staying at. I liked the reflections and you can't get much more ordinary than a toaster and a coffee maker.

WIT: SOOC, from a tripod. Lighting is just the under-cabinet lights.

I'm Hungry Mother!

I'm Hungry Mother!

Taken for the Active Assignment Weekly group.
This week's assignment: Mommy.

By luck, as I was bringing in the tools from working in the yard, I noticed that our pruning shears matched.

WIT: Hung the little one in the tree and had my son hold the mother. Handheld, quick take. In Photoshop, cloned out some text on one of the big handles to give it a more "natural" look and darkened some highlights.

Loving Mommy

Loving Mommy

Taken for the Active Assignment Weekly group.
This week's assignment: Mommy.

Spending the day at my sister's house for a combined Birthday and Mother's Day celebration, I took a picture of one of her figurines. Not sure if this is too conventional for the assignmnet and if they count as humans. But I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

WIT: These statuettes are quite popular, I'm not sure of the artist or brand, maybe someone out there knows. This one is about 6-8 inches (150-200mm) tall. The lighting is natural from an overcast sky through the window. Handheld. In photoshop I combined and scaled two shots to get focus on both children.
