Thing is, we all learn about the Dutch predilection for St. Nicholas and even about his black slave, oops, sorry, servant, Black Peter. But when you actually see 400 people with blackened faces running round speaking in Surinamese accents, it's, well, disturbing. Especially in the ten per cent of cases when the blackened faces were black to start with.
