Poison Arrow Frog

    Newer Older

    Fuji S2 Pro / Nikkor 105mm Macro - 6 sec * f/45 * ISO 100 ~ B / FR

A poison arrow frog taken through glass at a butterfly farm. This little guy was about 1cm long so about the limits of my macro lens. He was very co-operative and stayed there for just enough time for me to get this shot. I'm glad I took my tripod =)

Thanks =). The one gripe I have about this image is the colour.

I never really got used to processing images from the Fuji(thanksfully it's long since been Ebay'd) and I think I have over-saturated it but I'm still not sure, the colours from the Nikon's seem to make a lot more sense.

wow, great capture. these little buggers can be so tough to pin down in time for a macro shot!

Thanks Cesar314, Yeah I know what you mean, usually these things are constantly moving so I was so lucky it stayed completely still for 6 seconds. I wish I still had the RAW file for this shot but I lost it while formatting a drive and the only reason I still have it is because I emailed it to my Parents =). Another bit of luck I guess but I can't do too much to it without degrading it now =(

Thanks Nina =). It's nice to see this little guy is still popular after all this time and he's almost at the end of my gallery too =)

      Great Shot!
I don't think it is over saturated at all. But then again, I like saturated photos! If anything the light seems a bit too cool. If you use Lightroom, you can adjust the color temp a bit warmer and that blueness of the tree he is sitting on will turn a more natural color and the frog himself will look more of an orange red as opposed to a purple red.
      Still, a brilliant shot!
