Brilliant - how do you manage to point your
camera at the sun like that? I always worry
about glare, burning out my camera chip, or
worse still, my retina (at least on the SLR).
I guess the glare I see on the LCD is perhaps
just an artefact of the display.
Robep, I think (using a DSLR), it's ok to
point the camera at the sun, provided you're
exposing for it. The only time the sensor
sees the sun is when you press the trigger,
and then only for the "correct"
amount of time, so it shouldn't do any
damage. But yeah, I had spots in my eyes for
a few minutes after that one. I was actually
trying to get some flare and pointy bits
coming from the sun (I originally tried
f/22), but it just wasn't happening.
Thanks Ed - I'll experiment next time I have
the opportunity (but I get so much more
mileage out of my compact just because of its
convenience - I hardly ever seem to use the
SLR except for special missions).
