You Have Arrived

i think u remove some red here, which should be there :P

yeah, i know. i didn't notice this earlier, but now that i have - i think i like the bareback effect. (=
besides, PS is way too complicated .

There was once a bug
That clicked and clicked,
Loved to hop
Dance and skip.

But, bugs like her
Were mocked and hit;
They all came and laughed
Told her its wings were unfit.

The little bug went home
Sad and teary-eyed,
Fiddled with her wings,
Thought of rainbows and skies.

She tried and tried,
Waited for her wings to fly;
They clicked and flicked,
And she didn't care about their smiles.

Little bugs, big bugs
They came with all kinds of wings,
White, silver, black or blue
They talked about how they've got the "thing"!

She watched and envied,
But never gave up;
One dandy summer evening,
Her wings opened up.

They grew like angel wings
She couldn't believe her eyes,
The big bugs, their smiles so sly
But she finally had her try.

Now, she has grown all up
Her wings fine and fit.
The big bugs stay with their silly black and blues,
'Cuz she's got her "thing" too.

Yeah, the grain sort of bugs me too, but then again I was shooting at night with limited lighting and thus, a very high ISO.

About the noise blurbs, how about choosing an extremely long exposure time and standing perfectly still for the entire gamut?

Did you use a tripod? That installation looks dangerously capricious!

Yeah, I used a tripod. Don't you see one of its legs in the shot? I used lighting in a way where the other two legs would look darker, and thus blend with the background.

About the noise blurbs, yeah - your good friend, "Big Z" already suggested that. You've met me, right? Can you possibly imagine me standing "still" for _that_ length of time?

I did realize that you had used a tripod, that was just a rhetorical question ;) However, what I was referring to was how the red cloth seems to be wrapped around the tripod and might tip it over if the model(!) makes even the slightest of moves.

I also agree with Ifty bhai, bounce flash would've been good. But since *we are still too poor to own one, I suggest using the "rear sync/slow sync" option. You can sync your built in flash to fire a predefined period after the aperture has opened. This allows more light to enter your camera reticle. So in a way, you won't be getting a direct flash with hard,obtrusive shadows. This won't be a good pastiche for an off-camera flash though, but still "Nai mamar chaite kana mama bhalo".

Little mirror, rubber banded across el flash, would work wonders. Though, admittedly, it would look a wee bit fruity in the photo, but that's A-okay, right?

Also, to add to it. I found a Starblitz flash at the stadium yesterday? GN 36 at 50mm, 42 zoomed in, all at ISO 100, and with a built in optical slave, to boot, for a grand total of 1800/=. Definitely worth it =)

Oh, and Atunu - yes, it was a dangerous shot and yes, I had to absolutely make sure I wasn't moving since it might crash my camera. THAT amount of patience... I have!
