Winding A Streetcorner Symphony

crop suggestion...
Winding A Streetcorner Symphony by -diya-.
Do you listen to another
Do you search for music in your soul,
Can you not remember our song
Remember how many hearts it stole.

We've grown too old,
We've come too apart,
The streets aren't same anymore,
Paths don't cross.

Yet, they sing
They play another symphony,
It could be our song,
Or just another playful beat.

But they sing, oh they sing
They sing another song for me.
On the dusty streets of the sweating sun,
They tune a bittersweet rhyme for me.

Have you forgotten his song,
Not remember what the words were,
Do you not see him anymore,
The weeping of his soul.

Have you gone so far,
You don't feel anymore;
Am I guessing too much,
Or is this the desperation that keeps me on the ball.

All the lost souls,
With their broken hearts,
We all sing a song,
Hoping it would cheer us up.

But the songs are old,
That streetcorner symphony doesn't play anymore,
So, we're not lost, we're not done yet
All we need are the symphonies from his chord.

The posture is good and the title too. But the angle from where you took the shot really is fascinating...totally love the tone work....without any doubt I can say that it has the touch of diya....good one...

Back to your BW street photography? =) This photograph screams "DIYA!" =) as it is back to your old stype of photography and i am glad you are posting these again.

The photo as a whole is an awesome but i am being divided between the strumming of the hands and the persons expressions. I think you can divde this picture and have only one point of focus instead of two which i seem to be getting (i can be wrong =)...has happened so many times before =))

other than that... Cudos little one =)

I know you like going for strong contrast in your B&Ws, which works most of the time, like it did in this one. By obliterating lots of detail on the face, shirt and other areas you made it easy for us to concentrate on the main area of interest. Also, very clever angle you used to hide the eyes as eyes in a picture always draw our attention first. Despite hiding the eyes his concentration and dedication is quite clear in this picture, and without this the picture wouldn't have been this strong.
A very powerful composition diya.
Love it :)

Pictures like this fascinate me. They are one area in which I find myself disabled before I start; the almost intrusive aspect of taking candids. What is fair to shoot? What to use?

But with one release of the shutter, you dispel all those questions. This is perfect. It captures the essence of an individual without revealing things that may make him identifiable. He becomes a mystery figure with depth.

And the processing likewise works to your advantage.

I would usually at least give Fuad the benefit of the doubt when it comes to crop suggestions, but not this time. Your original framing is perfect. the whole picture is needed to tell this story.

@ Fuad:

He he, wasn't that fun? =D

Anyway, I kind of agree with the non-croppers. If I was meant to crop, I would have cropped before the photo before uploading it. Besides, the intensity of his not-very-visible eyes need to be present while keeping that portion of the string on focus to create that essence of poignancy.

And yes, I am extremely delighted to be back doing what I do best and love most.

Thank you. This shot is one of my favorites. I stood on top of a chair and zoomed to get that angle, he he. I think the guy noticed, but he was too focused into playing the instrument and indifferent to everything else to complain.

That's the thing about high contrast B&W. It comes handy at times and distorts the photo at other times. I'm glad I could put it to good use with this shot. The poem was written looking at the photo. =)

Thanks a bunch!

I was reading some of the comments and I pretty much agree with everyone. This is another one of those voodoo that you do! I love it! I also love your crop (sorry fuad ;-p) ... wow, what an outstanding poem? Heck, if I write a poem, it sound like a chora from Shukumar Ray ..or Dr. Seuss ... lol

Diya, its an amazing capture for its intensity and composition(to an extent). But, I agree with faud that for dividing attention. I would like to see this image a bit slimmer with the ears(vertically) and forehead (horizontally) cropped out.

Warm regards,

Jai
