Katmai Coast, Alaska 2007

Photos from a trip to the Katmai Coast, Alaska from August 7-16, 2007. Destinations included Hallo Bay, Kukak Bay, and Ninagiak Island. This is the area where Timothy Treadwell was killed, and we saw some of the same individual bears featured in the footage shown in Grizzly Man.

The purpose of the trip was primarily to photograph Kodiak bears (Ursos arctos middendorffi -- a large subspecies of grizzly / brown bears), but we also spent time with red foxes and has a lovely afternoon with puffins in perfect light.

Jim Abernethy and Al Vinjamur accompanied me on the trip, and we were guided by Brad Josephs.
