O little town of Bethlehem![]() ![]() Bethlehem (which means "house of bread" in Hebrew), just a few miles south of Jerusalem, was the place where Jacob buried his wife Rachel. This is also the home of Naomi, and in the nearby fields Ruth met Boaz and married him. Their great-grandson David was born here and in this little town he would be called and anointed King of Israel by the prophet Samuel.
But the most important event happened here two thousand years ago with the birth of Jesus Christ . Luke 2:4-5 "And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child." Luke 2:7 "And she brought forth her first-born son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn." A shot from the upper valley of the town of Bethlehem overlooking the slopes on which the town has been built over. Commentsregardless
