a taste of heaven

a taste of heaven by eatzycath.
after a couple of weeks of simple diet recovering from a surgical operation, I saw these fresh figs in the supermarket today and decided to reward myself at dinner tonight with a green salad of fresh sweet figs, a couple of slices of prosciutto parma ham, shavings of parmesan cheese, and a light dressing of balsamico vinegar, dijon mustard and extra-virgin olive oil

ahhhh.... what lovely bliss :-)

Oh dear, hope everything is alright, and that you're recovering well! Where'd you find the figs? I can never find them in Singapore. :( This salad looks awesome.

Cath: I notice the skin of the figs haven't been removed. They're edible?

dubbie: I've often seen them sold at cold storage, jason's or carrefore.

thanks for the well wishes ... the figs were lovely... and u should really try and get hold of some :-)

thanks dubbie ... the figs are in season now, and you should be able to get them in the bigger cold storage supermarkets and at jason's!

thanks, guys :-)

haha.. when one's appetite is failing, one needs to get more creative with food to get those juices going :-)

thanks !

on the slow road to recovery but feeling positve... thanks for the concern :-)

the skin is super-soft, washed them carefully without bruising them and I ate the whole lot (hope it's okay?)

unfortunately, most of our local figs are either non-edible or unpalatable (only knew 1 edible species)
