Vestvember FAIL #2

I went down three needle sizes.

I swatched.

I got gauge.

I knit for 6 inches.

I tried it on.

It's about 6 inches too big.

BAH!!

(I'm already knitting on size 4s and am not going any smaller. Now I'm ripping and will cast on with 36 fewer stitches and see how that goes....)

It looks like my gauge changed from swatch to knitted garment, unfortunately. So I'm just going to go with the gauge I'm getting and adjust the pattern accordingly. Reducing by that many stitches ought to make attempt #3 go faster, right?

I knit the swatch in the round, for reals. It's entirely possible, though, that I didn't accurately measure the swatch. It's not for nothing that the hubs calls me Miss Approximate.
