Red Phone Box HDR

It still seems rare to see these old-style phone boxes. This was taken in Ballyskeagh, Northern Ireland (and you can see the box on Google Maps)

This is an HDR image processed from five exposures passed to Photomatix. The bright light in the middle right has caused all manner of problems though.

To take full advantage of Flickr, you should use a JavaScript-enabled browser and

I love the colours and it's a classic subject. The grey skies add a certain authenticity to the whole scene. I read last week that BT suggest that local councils can 'adopt' red phone boxes for an annual fee. Why they aren't saving them all is beyond me. They're iconic!

I've seen a few red phone box pics today, maybe there should be a competition; I think this is a subject that particularly repays HDR techniques.
I like the fact that you have a letter box too.

Oh, and it's a great sky, it seems to have repaid your trouble with it.
