pola pink drive in
I'm gonna give 'em to you every way! Triptych, diptych, alone-tych! I went out to the Midway Drive-In tonight to take images of the theatre for work. Due to poor planning I only hit one theatre when there are so many I need to photograph, but I'm still really happy with how these turned out.
The first shots were really overexposed and I've been having that problem A LOT with my camera. These then turned out just fine. What gives?
I got "backstage" at the drive-in into the projection booth, but I had left my apt without my tripod. I was balancing my camera on boxes of old films that needed to be returned and I didn't have the adapter to my light meter to get a good incidental reading off of the projectionist to snap a portrait. Here's hoping the exposure wasn't *too* far off. Alyssa got to see me fussing with the camera and getting ready to shoot the portrait only to realize my camera was out of film. Took several minutes to reload and the projectionist really needed to get the movie started. Embarrassing! Fun though, too.
On Sept 5 & 6th the drive-in will be hosting a dusk-til-dawn thing and you can camp out in the back rows of the theatre. I'll be there!

Can you believe I am getting paid to do this?! It's amazing. I'm really nervous about photographing the big palaces though. I'm more comfortable roaming around the open air theatres! I have a ton of tungsten film too...do you think I should use that to shoot interiors, or is that wrong?
