365.131 Nuclear Dyxie

Besides nearly asphyxiating myself, I was not harmed during this shot.
I have had my eye on this gas mask and sign for months now. I finally decided to use them. I have the best job ever.

Don't worry, color and wrapping paper are coming back. I've just had a very black and gray week. But I feel much better. I even attempted a wrapping paper shot tonight with my newly purchased Martha Stewart wrapping paper, but everything looked like utter crapola. So, out came the props!

Funny, I was just sketching up a Fallout shelter sign for extra credit. I really like this. Not just because the obvious reasons of loving you, but I LOVE Fallout shelter signs and I'm completely in love with the curiosity behind nuclear weapons/atomic bombs.

Yes, me and my camera would be standing there watching it even if it killed me, along with even if no one ever saw my photographs. Just something that intensely fascinates me.

    I am done rambling. ♥

    Yay! You aren't creeped out!

Sad :( You are creeped out.

    Hell yeah! When ya comin'???

I am curious, too, but only curious in the sense that I don't ever want it to happen.

Awesome use of props, dear lady!

And I was one of those kids who didn't sleep after seeing The Day After.

this is pretty much rockarific. yes, I made up that word. but it especially applies, and the fact that it was made specifically to describe the awesomeness of this makes it extra cool, no?

I honestly didn't watch it. My Mama wouldn't let me. I guess she valued my sleep :)

You're right. My glowing, nuclear boob would have thrashed the paper.

I love made up words! Thank you so much Rach!

Fallout shelters ALWAYS remind me of my favourite cheesy movie of all time - Grease 2!! When they are in the fallout shelter and singing away to Let's Do it for our Country!!!
"Just think about it -- it would be like as if we were doing it for the Statue of Liberty, or the Grand Canyon, or the New York Yankees... it would be like as if we were doing it for... Disneyland!!"

I had a panic attack during our 'gas mask shooting range' dealio in basic training. I tried my best to hide it, but I think I was pretty unsuccessful. I don't think it was the mask though - I think it was the mask combined with the heat and the steep uphill climb.

Anyhow - totally crazy shot coming from you, but sometimes you've just got to mix it up a little. I plan on doing my very first 'Oh no she didn't' shot sometime in the next couple of days. If I don't chicken out, that is.

you crack me up!!! this is so funny. And I want a recording of that southern drawl of yours.

I know. I was just being silly. And thank you!

Dude. I could not breathe. My stomach still hurts. I swear I was breathing in carbon or something. Grody. I like to mix it up every now and then. I know there are people out there that are so sick of me and my wrapping paper head.

You want a recording?? You have my phone number. And yes. I know I would make money. Believe me, I've thought about it!

Dyxie or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

    :-)

I am not sure what to say about this photo... I think it is a striking, stop you in your tracks photograph. It is shocking. It is very well done.

I think it is a love/not-so-much-love (I definitely don't hate it) kinda photo for me. If I am having such a strong reaction to it, that is probably a good thing.

"Suck ass with a straw" = Shan's newest favorite quote.
Please read the following in Dwight Schurte's voice:
QUESTION: Why do you have a gas mask and fallout shelter sign lying around your hosue?

And finally, I will try to forget that you quoted Ina Garten - at least it wasn't PAW-la DEEN. I can't STAND that woman! Well, maybe that's a little harsh - it's really just her voice that drives me to the brink of insanity.

    There. I'm insane.

  38. Dyxie (62 months ago | reply)

I know! I'm dying to know, too....and thank you Miss Sarah. I love you. So there.

I agree that this is a total left turn for me, but I have been thinking about this one for a while. I know that it is not my best, but it certainly isn't my worse. I'm glad you are having a strong reaction to it. You are sad that you can't see my face....right? ;)

Ina Garten cracks me up. That laugh? I cringe every time I hear it. Bu-huh bu-huh. Ack!!!!! But Paula??? I love me some Paula! Well, I love Paula before she married Santa Claus.
Dwight Schrute would have these items laying around his house...I just know it.

I'm not sad... anytime I can make a witty cinema comment, I'm just fine. Sorry I can't express my feelings on the photo better. I am still digesting it. It definitely got me to sit up a little straighter and gave me a "whoa" moment. Not a Keanu Reeve "whoa" but an intake of breath, shocked whoa.

I'm not sure if I'd want to see the face... it would be a look of sheer terror. Egads.

  44. Dyxie (62 months ago | reply)

Dr. Strangelove reminds me of Depeche Mode. It's a win/win situation. Don't worry about expressing your feelings. I'm picking up what you're putting down. I love that I can shock you....
