Rosemead, opened late 1963-early 1964.
Another built about the same time was on
Garvey in El Monte. That building in your
picture looks very much the same as those
two, so it probably goes back at least to the
1960s.
krobarge says:The 1st Jim's Burger stand was on
Gage/Prospect in Bell. It was founded by Jim
Angelopoulos. They were eventually
everywhere. His sons (Nick & Gus) went to
Warren and I believe they still own and
operate a few stores. The last one I dined
at was in the City Of Industry on Azusa north
of the Industry Hills Sheraton. Nick put
together and killer lunch with the best fried
zucchini I have ever tasted (except for
perhaps the Memory House back in the 70's).
The Greeks know how to make a burger!
Dying In Downey says:^This is exactly why flickr.com is so great.
You get to learn something new all the time.
I'm really addicted to this site.
cswa913102 says:I spent my lunch break here for years. Me,
the newspaper and a cheeseburger combo, or
occasionally a pastrami combo.
cswa913102 says:I also went to the Jim's in Bell when I lived
over that way about 1974; used to get the
pastrami and some 35 degree Coor's from a
liquor store down the street.
