Abandoned Hospital: Monsour Medical Center- HDR

Processed in HDR (High Dynamic Range) for effect. I know this style is NOT for everyone, but it's a way I like to edit select abandoned places I've photographed, especially dark and decaying places like this hospital in PA.

The darkest, creepiest and most un-welcoming place to be in, and definitely at the top of the surreal chart. I really can't describe how eery this place felt, nor can my wife or son who each had their own creepy moments which forced both of them out of the building.
Not expecting anything more than exterior shots of the place, we couldn't believe it was wide open, every single door from front to back. I went through as much as I could, dodging collapsing ceilings and stepping over abandoned equipment in total darkness at times to get through and into rooms. I eventually found my way to the morgue... which still contains hundreds of tissue samples in numerous drawers around the room. Needles, drugs, x-ray machines, hospital beds, personal belongings etc... left in place and and rotting away makes this hospital look like something out of a post-apocalyptic nightmare.
Numerous lawsuits, mis-management and towards the end some reports of patient abuse forced the Monsour Medical Center to shut it's doors for good in 2006. Since the board of directors was dissolved, no one knows who the property belongs to now, and the local residents want them to come forth and clean up this toxic mess left wide open just outside the little town of Jeannette Pennsylvania. Concerns about the mess inside range from the drugs, needles and abandoned x-ray machines throughout the building. The DEP has assured residents that there is no danger of radiation or bio-hazardous materials remaining after a clean-up. Little consolation to those who live near it and have to see this everyday.
