Belonging Home by Daniel Wischnewski

Belonging Home

Taken from my hotel room in Mannheim, wanting to be home, rather than abroad. Playing around with the 85mm lens at 1.2 - quite some fun. The DoF is razor sharp, look at the curtains in detail to see how parts of them are outside the sharp areas already!

bland take over by Daniel Wischnewski

bland take over

Taken with the new 85/1.2mm lens I got last week. It is simply a test shot of the abilities of this stunning piece of glass. Weighing more than 1kg, this beast comes at a heavy price attached to a 5D Mark II body. But with a f1.2 its performance in low light is simply stunning. Starting at around f1.6 this lens is simply flawless, as far as I have tested it.

After the Rain by Daniel Wischnewski

After the Rain

Went to the zoo again to take a few more shots and have some fun. It was raining quite a lot today, but every once in a while the sun broke through the clouds and the animals were active during those moments. The camels were grasing and some of them were so close to the fence that I had to step away for better framing.

Outside by Daniel Wischnewski

Outside

This lion was shouting around shortly before we arrived at its enclosure. So, I aimed my camera at her while she was looking into space - or at visitors (food) - and clicked away. I really liked how this shot turned out, giving her space to breathe and look forward too. While I love watching those big cats, I am sadened that their enclosures are simply much too small to their likening.

Camera: Canon EOS 7D
Exposure: 0.002 sec (1/640)
Aperture: f/4.0
Focal Length: 300 mm
ISO Speed: 400
Exposure Bias: -1/3 EV

Living in Sylt by Daniel Wischnewski

Living in Sylt

Houses on the island of Sylt are thatched quite often. This style looks great, especially when light coloured thatch is used. Darker thatch however, is the usual style, as shown here.

Post Processing: RAW import in Lightroom 3 Beta 2. Some sharpening of the gras in front, b/w split toning for sky and the rest, converted for duplex colouring and some final contrast for screen display.
