Amazing what a little rain will do

After an absurdly hot and painfully dry summer, October has bordered on Sorta Damp, and this rosebush, which hasn't produced so much as a brown bud in five months, has decided to go for broke. Taken 27 October 2011.

The real last rose of fall

A few others were hanging on after Thanksgiving; this is one of the more interesting of the bunch, and it's shot at an angle that goes right into my garage. Normally I'd crop it, but I liked the effect. Taken 27 November 2010.

By a thread

Nature disposes of dead tree limbs in its own unique fashion. Here's one in the next-to-last stage before gravity takes over completely. Shot in my front yard on 21 May 2010, a few days after a hailstorm ravaged the neighborhood.
