One #3

One #3 by duncmc.
It’s been a while since I went out with the camera – work commitments have been getting in the way. Me ’n’ the missus spent an hour wandering around the marina last night, hoping to get something of the sunset. The sun set further north than we thought it would - not over the river at all, so most of the marina itself was in shade well before sundown.

I was pleasantly surprised by this shot of Nº One, Humber Quays – the clean lines of the building and the sunset colours have given it an illustrated or CGI quality which I really like. [Blogged]

Nice lines and angles. Those bumps look treacherous, what are they?

superb use of that 10mm lens again! I like the very subtle shades too. Excellent shot

It's a good shot! Is it with a 10mm lens? If so, which one? I see no evidence of wide-angle converging, did you use the transform tool to tweak the perspective?

Great shot.

I was up there today with Emma (theevilmightyf). It looks great around there.

The buildings look great and the lines make for great shots. I'll get round to uploading the results at some point in the next few days.

Tis very clean. The buff paving goes well with the sky.

Presumably if you hold the camera with the focal plane vertical you don't get any converging of the verticals?

Mitch – Aye, well Hull is half decent (at least!).

Terence – They are elements of a sculpture, which I assume represents waves (alluding to Hull’s maritime roots). They are illuminated in blue after dark – on my “to do” list.

Merv – Thanks.

Howiesp8/2 – Taken with my favourite lens - the Canon EF-S 10-22mm. No converging verticals as I was careful to keep the camera vertical (as suggested by horrigania further down).

Rich – Cheers, funny how things work out eh. Holidays soon so should be able to prioritise photography for a while. Some nice subject matter lined up too…

Carl – Ta - look forward (as always) to seeing your take on the subject.

horrigania – Yes, I really liked how the colours in the paving have been brought out. I didn’t notice it at the time of taking the shot.

Tone – Indeed. Getting out with the camera was certainly what the soul needed :¬)
