Out Of Service

Out Of Service by duncmc.
The two lighthouses at Spurn – the “Low Light” to the left which is the older building, and the “High Light” to the right, up on the point itself. Both lighthouses are no longer in service, replaced by electronic navigation beacons. [Blogged]

Another of the photos which I failed to get. All my long exposure photos of the tide coming in were rubbish!
This is a cracker.

I took several more – some over at the seaward side – all of which were disappointing. Although I was using a tripod I failed to take into account the fact that lapping sea water causes the sand to shift, which in turn means that the tripod moves. Imperceptible to the photographer at the time, but clearly evident in the blurred photos downloaded to my Mac.

Sometimes life teaches us hard lessons…

A good lesson to learn though as you are rewarded with this top shot, very good compositioning.

Great shot. I love long exposures of moving water. Really want to do some somewhere. And i think spurn might be the right place.

Good idea getting both lighthouses in the one shot.

I had exactly the same problem Dunc, the tide moving my cheapo £10 ebay tripod. It got better when I shoved it a bit further into the sand.

good result in the colour, a lot of tension in the shot with your eye being constantly pulled between the two subjects, this in turn gives the image dynamicism, overall a powerful statement of your art...

Just a thought but could you imagine this printed onto glass with great lighting behind it?

Nothing tacky mind, you know what I mean.
