That's pretty ugly.. They should stick to either warm or cool colors on the filter, at least..

slashdot used to be my favorite site for tech news. Then came digg, and now slashdot is hella weak and all their news is old cuz it hits digg and cnet first. The current slashdot is weak.

I preferred when slashdot did their hot pink site for april fools...

But seriously blackbrutha is spot on... the SD is old hat now. It sat on its laurels for too long and has been overtaken.

Although news hits /. a bit too late, the most important part to me are the comments: they're always insightful.

I've been a Slashdot reader for many years and visit it and Digg constantly throughout the day. I'm also a web developer who runs a popular alternative news site.

Digg is a good source for links to stories, but Slashdot has better discussions. Digg is a go to place to find breaking news and links to useful resources on topics like web development. I've never found a discussion on Digg to be that intellectually engaging, in fact, the discussions on Fark are more intelligent than Digg discussions. Slashdot discussions are almost always insightful, in depth, and useful. All of these services have their place, but Slashdot still rules.

Whatever. I still prefer reading slashdot. "Blackbrutha" typifies the Digg userbase mentality. The comment and moderation system is superior on Slashdot because you can actually come away with insights. Digg is just a bunch of childish posts mostly.

NO WAY! Digg users are rabble rousing, self righteous, perpetually adolescent geeks????????!?!?
      NO! NEVER.

I'm appalled you would suggest such a thing.
