Ice Ice and More Ice![]() skating along a pressure ridge... ice for as far as the eye can see... every four or five years, this part of lake superior freezes (every seventeen years or so, the entire lake freezes...) but rarely do we see it without snow...
the pressure ridge has some open water... where one sheet of ice is pushing beneath another... it adds to the excitement, as does the creeking and groaning as the ice shifts... in a word... exhilerating! Commentsduluthiscool

eeek, have you told them what to do if they start to fall in?
once i fell through RIGHT after my dad got done with a little lecture on What To Do When You Hear It Crack And Start Falling, and i stuck out my arms and didn't go under. i was a little amazed and a little mad that if he knew it was so possible, why he'd have us out there....
of course that was weak Illinois ice! ;)
