For the 'Blossoming Artist' post: I used 3 techniques that I had not tried before:
1. On the stars and moon, I wanted to suggest some of the swirls that van Gogh used in his Starry Night, so I began by doing pencil strokes spiraling out from the light sources and there was a natural swirl that developed. When I noticed this I decided to ink without completing the prelimnary pencil. As a result of this over confidence I ran into a jumble at the upper tip of the moon
2. On the crystal glass I was at first intimidated by the complexity of the crystal. I did a pencil study just trying to draw the small triangles in the glass. In doing this I became aware of the patterns that some of the triangles made and became more confident in my rendering.
3. The design on the deck of cards was another challenge for me. Trying to find the balance between rendering the intricacies of the Bicycle design and suggesting the design. In the end, suggesting the design was the best that I could do (and should do!). I used a scribble-doodle line to do the "suggesting".

I recognized Venus (we used to call her "Venus on the half shell"), and Mt. Fuji, but glad you spelled out the others for me! This is very neat. I especially like the bulldozer clearing the desk (and the bills!) It feels like that sometimes! Thanks for the bird taking flight! :-) My blues are already lifting!
