A Leather Valise
The one thing that I took with me when I left Montreal was this leather valise, which had belonged to my grandfather. An inscription inside indicates that it had been given to him on September 19, 1953 - his birthday, and not long after he had emigrated to Canada after leaving Europe. Uploaded on Jul 9, 2009 Masterly Application of Colors
Yves is showing me the originals of Zanis Waldheims' geometric art. This short video should give an idea of the size and form of these pieces - something that one might not get by looking at them on the Internet. Uploaded on Jul 8, 2009 Sculptural Experimentations
Yves and my grandfather made sculptures based upon the paintings done by my grandfather. Shown here is one made of plaster, and it is an extrusion of the piece on the lower left hand of the page. Uploaded on Jul 6, 2009 An Exhibition
Yves and I spent a few hours one afternoon looking at the art that my grandfather had made. Although it is possible to get a sense of these pieces online, it was a different experience seeing them in person. Uploaded on Jul 4, 2009 Yves Jeanson on Abstraction in the Work of Z. Waldheims
Yves Jeanson discusses the moment of geometric abstraction in arts: Kandinsky, Mondrian, Vasarely, etc. and the theoretical insights that they brought to the field, which Zanis Waldheims took even further - attempting to create a bridge between image and word. Uploaded on Jul 3, 2009 |
