Waterbuck

    Newer Older

Again shot from the safari truck at Port Lympne using an old 200mm manual lens. Shame about the ears being cropped!

Hmmmm, appeared on the flickr blog as a Niglai, totally wrong identification and tag by myself. Nevermind it's correct now, thanks to all the people that pointed it out.

Ah well - you tagged nilgai and the flickr mods put it up in their blog as a nilgai. At least it made me come and look to see how come a "nilgai" had such long fur around its head :-)
A waterbuck is also a beautiful antelope

This photo is on the Flickr page of N is for Nilgai ( blog.flickr.net/en/2011/11/04/n-is-for-nilgai/ )... but my guess is this is a female Waterbuck (Kobus ellipsiprymnus)

Yeah guys, this is a waterbuck, and if it's at Port Lympe, it's probably a Defassa waterbuck at that... Kobus ellipsiprymnus defassa
