The Luna Moth (Actias luna) is one of the more striking nocturnal moths in New England. The population of these easily-recognized moths is though to be in decline in Massachusetts, with light pollution being a prime contributor. Short-lived adults are attracted to lights and will spend their time navigating around them in vain, forgoing courtship flights and mating. Keeping the night sky darkened will help overcome this trend.
