Elderberry Borer

The Elderberry Borer Beetle (Desmocerus palliatus) is found throughout the summer across eastern North America. Adult-stage beetles oviposit into Elderberry (Sambucus spp.) where the larvae will feed upon the plant's roots. This species was formerly listed as "Special Concern" in Massachusetts, but has since been delisted.
