I think I may have found paradise. Can you spot the tent???

I think I may have found paradise. Can you spot the tent???

The plan was to sell the farm, buy a motor home and see Australia.
Well we didn’t sell the farm (was never my idea) thank goodness.
I informed my husband that we could die waiting for the New Bute Motor Home.

Google popped up this incredible 30second tent. ( Oz tent ) have a look on the net.
We were lucky to find one on sale ( Thinking, this is meant to be)
Along with Oz tent we purchased the most comfortable beds ever, chairs. Cooking stuff and a large car fridge. The rest as they say is history.

I should point out my husband IS NOT A CAMPER. So he was WAY out of his comfort zone for About 4 days.
After one almighty row, he had to admit that if you take something out of a box, you put it back in the same box. He can find things now…. Bless him!!!!

Sleeping under the stars is something everyone needs to do at least once.
We found so many perfect locations to set up camp. From rainforest to Beaches.
I did a little hiking, a lot of bird watching, and swimming. Not too many photos were taken. Most places have no power to download, which was no hardship really.

I wish you all a Happy and safe Christmas, a great New Year.
See you all on Flickr soon as we are heading back now.
I have really miss you all, and your wonderful photos
OMG Flickr has changed.all new. not sure about it.

New kids on the block copy

New kids on the block copy

The new stag of this herd seems happy to let his ladies roam happily near the house.
There are 16 in this herd, it’s so hard to capture then all together, their so spread out.
This is a wonderful sight first thing in the morning.

The King is Dead

The King is Dead

"The King is dead. Long live the King."
This proud old fellow died a few weeks ago in out far paddock.
He never tolerated me, or my camera, so this is the only photograph I managed to get.
I think he would had been 12/15 years.
A Queensland red deer stag, if able to mature, may grow antlers with 10 to 12 points. Stags with more points have been shot in Queensland but animals with less than 10 points are far more common Thank goodness for that. I hate shooters. In Queensland antlers are cast from September to November with growth of the new antlers starting almost immediately.
Red deer in Queensland are mostly crepuscular meaning they are most active during the early hours of the morning and in the last hours before dark. They are also nocturnal and can be found active at any time during the night. During the rest of the day red deer bed down, usually in thick cover.
In 1873 Queen Victoria made a gift to the people of Queensland of two stags and four hinds. Released at Cressbrook station. These six animals, together with a further six released in 1874, formed the genetic base of the present day Queensland herd. Escapees and deliberate releases from deer farms since the 1980s has increased the genetic diversity of Queensland’s wild red deer.
So now we have a new King. Slighter in size, but it’s early days. He has taken to the task of being the new herd leader with amazing self-confidence. Oh how he watches over this herd. I tried to get a shot of the whole herd all 17, abut they were to far spread out.I intend to get to know this new king. I’ll keep you posted

Broken hearted mouse

Broken hearted mouse

They said it will never work, he’s a Rat. But I love him so..........

I never really know how these mice shots will come out. As I’m unable to get to close, I have to set up the camera and use a remote on continuous mode. I can shot 200+ and only land 3 good shots. All hit and miss really, but when you get a good one, it’s all worth it. Not recommended for bad backs, knees, good fancy attire. Down and dirty is the name of this game
Thanks for looking
