Charities have been using this style of fundraising for a number of years now. In the short term, it pays off. However, especially for organisations which themselves run mostly on volunteers, it is causing a lot of unrest inside. I volunteer for Amnesty, and when I see students at work for Amnesty, who have little affinity for the work apart from the bonus they get, I feel it does dilute the statue of the organisation. But then, I am an old fart.
