Apple Store, Birmingham, England

Apple Store, Birmingham, England by drewm.
Just a small Apple Store, but I got to have a good run on a MacBook Pro. Gosh, they're quick compared to my 1.25 GHz PowerBook. Spotlight actually becomes useful for launching apps.

Also, I didn't think the slimness of the MBP would make that much difference, but it does. Yum. Can't help but think the embedded iSight looks like a bindi, mind.

I went to my local Mac store today (http://grafx.co.uk) and had a play with a MacBook Pro, an iPod Hi-Fi AND... AND... AND... AND I saw a Mac Mini running Windows XP; even as someone who has only recently switched to Mac it didn't look right.

Needless to say I want a MacBook pro and an iPod Hi-Fi.

I ordered my MBP yesterday after a few weeks of drooling over a colleague's. I was surprised by the slimness too, but it was the speed and Parallels that really sold me on it.

I got my MBP from the Apple Store while I was back in London for a few days, and nearly three weeks later I'm still marvelling at it. Buy! Buy now!

So many Apple Stores in the UK... I think the Regent Street one is way too sexier than all the American ones.

Ah, yes John, I stared at the Intel iMac running the blue-green default setup of XP recently at the Apple Center in Prague and couldn't belive it - it's *so* ill... I mean, should it be *the* selling proposition or what?

But the real question is, what on earth were you doing in Birmingham?

I got my MBP in Manchester after SXSW and it's the next best thing since sliced bread.

Speaking of slided bread, it does run hot. So if you put a slice of Mothers Pride white between the lid and the keyboard and close the MBP it can double as a toaster!

My PowerBook isn't due for replacement until January (I'd always planned to replace it after 3 years).

So short of any major changes, I think I'll try and be good and wait out the next 8 months. Hopefully by then the next revision will be available, even faster with fewer problems.

Drew: plus the UniBin Adobe apps will be ready by then (if that's an issue for you).
