This year's Dream Girl New Face Model Contest has been the most popular ever.

We've had a record number of entries. The standard of entries was so high we had sleepless nights trying to whittle the list down to four names. But we did.

Sunday 4th September you might have spotted on our Twitter and Facebook that we held a photo-shoot with the four models shortlisted for the competition.

We worked closely with our sponsors, O'Sullivan Concept Salons and they brought along a team of stylists to give each girl a makeover. Each girl had sent us a styled picture of themselves and then a shot with no makeup but this was their first opportunity to work with us on a professional photo shoot.

We were at a central London studio and spent the whole day taking great shots and trying to figure out which girl we think is perfect for Dream Girl.

Isn't the hot weather great?

Well yes, until you feel sweaty and you can't sleep, your hair goes lank and your make-up slides off your face.

Let's be honest, summer is fab but it creates its own problems for your beauty regime.

Dream Girl isn't just all about hair extensions. We also have a range of Colour Cosmetics so here are our tips on how to make yourself look fresh and beautiful from morning, noon and night when the weather is hot, hot, hot.

*Want to stop your make-up heading south? Wearing a layer under your foundation will help keep your make-up in place. A primer, or a moisturiser with an SPF can help keep your makeup in place for longer.

Thousands people came through the doors, hundreds of products were on show with rows upon rows of exhibitors. Salon International is over for another year and what a great time the whole team at Dream Girl has had.

After much anticipation and excitement we are delighted to be able to introduce you to our New Face. Jessica Burton was shortlisted along with three other girls, Shahira, Jemma and Alicia. You voted for her in our Facebook Poll.

So how did she react to being chosen after hundreds of other girls entered?

“I am still shocked, I didn’t expect anything to come of it. I’m just really excited. When they told me I’d won it, it was just the maddest day”.

Jessica found out about the competition from her boyfriend’s mum, who runs a salon stocking Dream Girl products. She knew Jessica and her sister had been scouted on the street by organisers of another model competition and that they had found it great fun, so when she found out about Dream Girl’s New Face, she thought she might want to have another go.

“Modelling had never been something I was really interested in but after I was scouted the last time, we had a really great time. I work in a doctor’s surgery so do I think modelling could be a career now? Maybe”

When she arrived at Salon International on Sunday, Jessica was given the great news that she’d won the competition. Her new hair extensions were added and styled and she sat on the stage for photos to be taken. We’ll keep you posted on Jessica’s life as Dream Girl’s New Face in the coming weeks.

Jessica wasn’t the only one taking part in a live demonstration at Dream Girl’s stand at Salon International. We teamed up with Rita’s Hair Salon in Portsmouth who did a live demonstration with threads and needles showing how adaptable Dream Girl Hair Extensions are and how quickly they can be fitted.

Martin O’Sullivan is Creative Director of the three London salons and was one of the showman at Dream Girl’s stand, along with two of his stylists providing makeovers and demonstrations.

“Salon International was really good. Dream Girl had a great stand and a great position. It worked really well and everyone seemed to enjoy it”.

So what did he think of the New Face?

“Jessica is wonderful, one of our stylists did her hair. She is fresh-faced and lovely to work with, she seems a natural, a real dream girl”.

Salon International isn’t just about having fun and mixing with the top names in hair and beauty. For brands like Dream Girl is a vital way for us to showcase the new products and styles we’ll have on offer for salons and consumers in the coming year.

Martin explains what he liked about Dream Girl’s selection for the coming year.

“In the salon what people are asking for is volume and length but they are also really interested inquality. I think that’s what sets Dream Girl apart. You know you’re going to get a great product. The hair extensions are fitted easily, quickly and it means customers don’t need to use any fiddly products any more.

“Volume is going to be big news next year; it’s not just about length. Dream Girl makes it so much more attainable, it’s more versatile and it’s much quicker to fit hair extensions for the customers, they’re not sitting in the chair for hours”.

For the Salon International organisers, there’s a chance for a small break before they start preparing for next year.

Nicola Lazenby from Salon International told us, "I've worked on Salon International now for four years, and it never ceases to amaze me how fantastic this event can be. Collectively, with the efforts of exhibitors, visitors and amazing hairdressing teams and individuals alike, we host an event that the British hairdressing industry is justifiably proud of. Feedback from everybody involved has been hugely positive, and, whilst success can be measured in many different ways by different people, I have come away from this year's event with an immense feeling of satisfaction, knowing that Salon International 2011 has been the very best event it could be."
