The Venerable Losang Samten, spiritual director of Tibetan Buddhist Center of Philadelphia, will create a Kalachakra, a Tibetan sand mandala, at the Open Lens Gallery of Gershman Hall (401 S. Broad St.) at the University of the Arts over the course of the next month, as an offering to the city of Philadelphia. The event is sponsored by the University of the Arts and the Gershman Y.

SEPTA Strike 2009 Over

A press conference was held in the lobby of the Bellevue Hotel in Center City announcing the end of the 6 day SEPTA strike of 2009. Gov.Ed Rendell, Mayor Michael Nutter, Rep. Bob Brady, TWU Local 234 President Willie Brown, SEPTA GM Joe Casey were on hand for the announcement.

TWU Local 234 President Willie Brown relieved that the strike is over. He was bleary-eyed and obviously exhausted.
