someone is going to make $1m US on this app
over the next 10 days.
est 12m iPhones sold + even if just, say, 1%
get this app (which will prob be higher) =
120,000 downloads * $5 = $600,000 / 70% cut
(apple takes 30%) = $420,000.
not bad for something that prob took someone
a wkd to build.
2nd message totally sounds like a story from
one of your nights...had a beer, couple more,
then onto martinis, late night food, i think
we were at a church at some point, took some
pics, atm receipt from 430am, then i hijacked
a bus.
dens, i challenge you to only txt in emoji
from now on based on rob5408's comment! love
his analysis of your txt! altho it may lead
to multiple interpretations...could be fun!
re "wknd to build": i was curious
about how the code behind this would actually
work. so i did a little research and it took
me five minutes to build my own app :)
as i always say (some variation): sure, your
idea is one-in-a-million, but that means that
there are a thousand of them in china! :)
ok, 5 minutes to make. 32 hours to get my act
together and submit to app store. hahaha. the
app's gonna be called Emoijcon. $0.99. i'll
report back someday on whether it actually
gets accepted and whether it sells
ps. Buy American! none of this
frosty/touchdial stuff. :)
pps. if apple rejects it (boo!!!), i'm doing
the open-source thing (although i might do
that anyway here naveenium.com/code/emojicon)
Wah!!! Rejected. This is the second app Apple
has rejected.
Their reason:
"'An Application may write data on a
device only to the Application's designated container area, except as
otherwise specified by Apple.' In addition, the iPhone OS Programming Guide
States: 'For security reasons, iPhone OS
restricts an application (including its preferences and data) to a unique location in
the file system. This restriction is part of the security feature
known as the application's "sandbox." The sandbox is a set of
fine-grained controls limiting an application's access to files, preferences,
network resources, hardware, and so on.'"
Completely understandable. Totally. I get it.
Really, I do. But what I don't get is why I
get rejected while others make it in. (The
same goes for my Jesus app! Others have been
able to put stuff into the app store but I
get rejected on the basis of religion? Wot!)

Yes, naveen, you should. There is no doubt at all in my mind. Though I expect to see about 10 similar apps in the store within the next week or so.
Or none, if Apple deletes them all for some sort of obscure legal reason.
Aaron Landry (41 months ago | reply)
Naveen-
With Touch Dial Emoji at $4.99, I'd put your app at $1.99. ;-)
Aaron Landry (41 months ago | reply)
Oh crap, Justine is pimping an app called FrostyPlace for 99¢.
