Beautiful Moon Tonight...

The moon was gorgeous tonight coming over the mountains with a slight red tone. I enhanced this one slightly to bring out the beautiful tones that were visible to the naked eye around the moon. I also enlarged the moon for effect.

Interestingly, doing these shots I realized that the moon is not a perfect sphere! It has jagged edges all the way around. I never realized this was the case.

Interestingly, I gave it a smart blur on purpose because it seemed a bit too crisp for this shot.

this is lovely - the angle of the tree trunk and the square crop are perfect accompaniments to that incredible moon!

I love it, I had to Fav it. It's like the moon is trying to play hide and seek.

That'd be cool, I'd love to compare. I imagine it will show from a slightly different angle on the other side of the country, but not much!

Beautiful capture. Those jagged edges appear due to the amount of craters on its surface. Maybe not a perfect sphere, but magical none-the-less.
