I bet all those trees dropping leaves last month with be pimp'n cherry blossoms in late March.

8am folks. He made it all night and passed out at 8am in the train station.

Some dudes on scooters ride like they've got something to prove...or maybe he was just trying to make the light. Can't remember.

Took this last week. Was supposed to take more yesterday but it FRICK'N snowed! (annoying!)

I ain't that hardcore. Yet.

Taking lots of panning stuff too but that takes longer to sort through and tweak.

Folks. I'm focusing on crows this year. And I plan to get good. Real good.
Been doing a lot of biological research on corvids and managed to spend 3 hours shooting them last Friday.

Things I learned:

They really like hamburg. They don't particularly care for rice balls.

Some crows are much braver than others. One came within a meter of me repeated while the others just watched from a safe distance.

1/1000 sec still leaves sliiiiight motion blur. Will try 1/1600 next.

Keep the sun at my back ; p (most of the time)

Despite their dark plumage, the D700 often over exposes by about 1/3 EV.
(and lowering that exposure will help keep auto ISO in check along with 1/1600 shutter speed)

Crows are arguably the most difficult birds to photograph (reaaaally?! : P)
Low contrast plumage, speed and cautious behavior (they be smart tweeties) make Doyle's hobby tough.

Things I suspect:

The D700's initial acquisition/tracking, even with grip and Ni-MH batteries, is not up to the task. Doesn't matter much with the D4 coming soon, but I'm trying different techniques.
