Sketch for painting about 1988

Done on transparency for projecting onto canvas. I like how markers look on transparencies. Eventual painting was in color

The original image was a video shot. What I like in such processes is that I can fairly easily make something quickly and cheaply. Transparencies offer some visually interesting things to do. For example layering. Distinctly different looks of the ink on clear plastic. Anyhow I'd like to get back to thinking of going back and forth between hand painting and scanning or photographing in the image, and treating them in some photo editing program like photoshop as 'paintings'. Which allows me to have sort of the best of both worlds.

I'll have to rummage around for a photo of that painting. I'll see what I can find. I'm trying to put back together my painting, photo, and movie work synergy that made me excited most of my artistic life. I don't like being tied down to just photography. I like how they all grow together.

When I did the little sketch above I was pleased. the painting turned out well in relation to the little sketch. Similar feel to handling the paints to how the ink shows itself above. On a tangent I actually like doing black and white paintings.
