LOL, just photographed two or three of these this afternoon at Bebo Grove, Doug! Great, sharp shot and great that you know the ID for it : ) I knew it was some kind of slime mold (wow, I'm learning!). It was black inside and I even photographed the underside of one of them, LOL. Now for leaves : )

Thanks myxonz. You are probably right but I couldn't find a member of the Reticulariaceae that was this size. However I am sure I never looked at all of them. Added later: I have looked back at my photos and found a very similar slime mold identified as Enteridium lycoperdon which is a member of the Reticulariaceae. The description of it in my books sounds very similar to this specimen. What do you think?
