Forest in HDR

Forest in HDR

I know you're getting tired of snow and trees... god knows I am! :) But it's all I've got in the natural world here right now. When Spring comes, I promise more variety.

Tonight we have our lowest temperature forecast for this Winter, -25F. (-32C). So, if I don't post again, you'll know why. I'm frozen in front of my computer, forever staring at my Flickr Photostream page! :)

In the Depth of Winter

In the Depth of Winter

We've been in a cold spell for some time now. Many days do not get above 0 degrees during the day and -15f or more at night. I think our frigid weather motivated this photograph ...and to Vicky in Fairbanks, I know, this isn't really "cold!" :) ....

Sorry to be off-line a few days but I'm totally revamping my computer system and switching to a Mac computer. I don't take 'brands' very seriously but I thought I'd give a Mac a try for a while. But I'm up and running again...

Wolf in a Dream

Wolf in a Dream

I took this Wolf photograph several Summers ago in the Ekultna Lake area outside Anchorage and I wanted to do something 'special' with it... so, here it is!

Friend on a Walk

Friend on a Walk

I walk by this Red Birch frequently on a route to Cheney Lake in our neighborhood. After enough years, you begin to feel like you know the tree. I take photographs of it in all seasons...

I think I'm gonna put together a collage of four photographs of just this one tree.

Hoar Frost

Hoar Frost

When all the factors come together, we get Hoar Frost. It's very beautiful and delicate looking, especially against a cobalt blue sky.

"Hoar frost (also called radiation frost or hoarfrost or pruina) refers to the white ice crystals, loosely deposited on the ground or exposed objects, that form on cold clear nights when heat losses into the open skies cause objects to become colder than the surrounding air." ---Wikipedia
