this is really great. the overexposition
works well here, brings out the wrinkled
skin. i also like the unusual composition.
you have to look twice to recognize what you
see, but this makes this photo interesting.
good work.

being on earth.
I just adore your "overexposured"
capture!

Both shots are superb. The high-key
treatment is unusual and creative (so what
else is new, coming from such an artist as
you?), and the texture and composition of the
secondary photo are stunning.

I feel much better about the bags under my
eyes now...You should start a Zoo Photo Class
along with your wedding and portrait
business. I'm sure lots of people would pay
to learn to take photos like this. Or just to
follow you around watching you work.

Certainly impressive photos of an impressive
being.
I am more easily comfortable with the
primary image, but on second looks, the
secondary image does suggest some of the
sheer bulk of the animal, overpowering each
of the visible features.

I just read that the matriarch of the Toronto
Zoo elephant herd died this Monday, she had
to be eutanized. She was 40 years old. Her
name was Patsy.

Jeannot7: I'm very sorry to hear that. I
don't know if this was her, but the sadness
of the shot seems appropriate somehow. I have
another shot that I'm pretty sure is Patsy,
so I'll post it tomorrow.

from the furrows around and above the eye,
I'd make a wild guess that this isn't Patsy,
if the other one is, but my bet wouldn't be
backed by a high stake.
Your photos, though, do them a certain
justice, and bring them lots of the energy of
attention.

Wayne: I went back and checked the original
shots and I think you're right. This is not
the same animal as the one that I'm pretty
sure is Patsy. The foreheads are also
different.
