Nature Conservancy's Best Nature Photo 2007 Finalist

While waiting for the sun to set, it ducked beneath the clouds and I got some direct sunlight. Not much to look at for silhouettes or cloud color, but the side lighting was almost magical. I tweaked it a little bit using the tonemapping tool on PhotoMatix and then finished it with the typical PhotoShop levels/curves adjustments.

So that's what a Joshua tree looks like. I planted one from a seed someone gave me. Its about a foot tall...doesn't look like this yet. This is a fantastic photo and the tonemapping and curves look great!

It is nice, but the foreground tree is blurring in with the horizon a bit and although I am aware this place is pretty incredible -- seems just a tiny bit unnatural as far as the colors. Maybe a slightly wider aperture for some narrower DOF? Still, very good, but not quite for me.
