I know that hex tile must have been impossible to match. I don't think it looks bad at all.

It probably would have been easier to order it online.

Yeah, but we were trying to buy local. Home Depot and Lowe's are local, right?

Shove that rug a couple of inches over the line dividing the two designs and you'll fool the eye that much longer!

I love the orange accents and if I can look past the dirty dishes in my sink for 2 days, I can easily look past temporary tile repair! Besides, I think you did the rest of us a favor by giving the nut jobs something to focus on! Where should I send the thank-you note?

Perhaps think of the different tile as a focal platform for the awesomeness of the new sink/vanity? Like, you love it SOOOO much that you needed to show it off by setting it on different tile to set it off?

No? Not so much? I tried, man. Still, it's gorgeous!

The bathroom looks great.

Your tile story reminds me of this:

When we bought our house (built in 1916), the guy who'd fixed it up to sell had put the world's cheapest flat gray carpets in the master bedroom and another one on the main floor.

After a couple of years I pulled up a corner and discovered there were beautiful fir floors underneath and they were even in good shape. Or at least we thought so until we pulled up the carpet and discovered the guy had painted the walls without putting anything down to protect the floors.

It looked like he'd even cleaned his brush off by painting wide white swaths in the center of the room. Latex paint dried for several years does not come up easily. We had to have the floors refinished. They're gorgeous now.

But I was furious. His laziness struck me as a heinous lack of respect for a cool, old house.
