How well do they actually hold together? I'm thinking of dropping dough and just buying the figs with R4-T1 parts. Stupid clones.

These hold together great. If you didn't know ahead of time that they came in 4 parts, you wouldn't think they could be disassembled cleanly.

I have the left foot of the black one :D I got it with my Commander Gree, I believe.
Glad you didn't have to buy all the figures just to get these parts!

So how'd you shoot this exactly?

With a camera!
What, you mean more information than that? OK, with my camera on my Gorillapod about a meter away using macro mode, zoomed in so nothing else was in frame like the wall behind the black posterboard I used as a backdrop. It was a six second exposure, and the only light source was my Mini Maglite with an off the shelf LED kit instead of the little incandescent bulb. I waved it around from the right side of the figures for a few seconds, then from the left for the remaining seconds, all the while aiming it at the figures. No other light source, the room was dark except for the flashlight. I opened it in Paint Shop Pro and tweaked the contrast slightly and removed the LEGO stand holding R7-T1 in the air, cropped and saved, and uploaded. How's that?
