Ruby on the beach

Ruby on the beach by Donncha @ InPhotos.org.
Ruby, a Springer Spaniel we met last year in Bunnyconnellan, is still down in Myrtleville! Her owner must be living down there somewhere. We threw a stick for her a few times and then walked over to Fennell's Bay and she followed us with her tail wagging!
It was a pleasure walking with her only spoilt by the idiot teenage girl who threw stones at us from high ground. She and her group of friends didn't hang around when they saw us returning back towards them. Very brave.

What a wonderful shot! The detail of the perfectly content soggy spaniel and the dog in the background also staring at the camera is just perfect. Thank you very much for sharing :)

hotdogg3uk - Argh, can't believe I didn't see that! Thanks for spotting it.
emacs1969 - thanks, I smiled when I saw the image because it was taken blind without composing using the viewfinder. That other dog ran off with Ruby's stick several times and she was too timid to get it until he dropped it!
On the other hand, when that dog approached Ruby when she had her stick she barked and growled at him fiercely!

Great composition and cute dogs, but the horizon is tilted to the right.

Fantastic shot and you say it was taken blind without the viewfinder! I can't imagine those dogs stayed still for long. I think you could make this an even better shot (in addition to levelling the horizon) by cropping out the trees and left hind leg on the right side of the picture - if anything, this directs the viewer from the corner up the dog's back to its face rather than down the back into the distance away from the face. Also, I'm not sure whether it is just my old laptop PC's uncalibrated tft monitor, but it looks like there is a bit more detail to be had from that sky; if you have Photoshop or similar maybe try reducing the overall exposure for less blown out sky then use the shadow/highlight tool to get correct exposure for the dogs - there might be a better way, I'm not an expert.

Great clarity and framing! Did you crop this, or was it framed like this taken blind? Well done!

It was shot this way. No cropping at all but after being reminded of it, I wish I had tilted the sea a bit so it was horizontal!

Devastatingly wonderful! Perfect doggy! Perfect other doggy, both looking at just the right places and at the right angle to one another. One of those you look back on and can't believe you got, no doubt - great! :)
