Jealousy

Jealousy by Donncha @ InPhotos.org.
Do animals feel emotion? Do they feel joy and sadness, regret and elation or even jealousy and envy?
This little fella eyed the bigger mound next to him with what I'd swear was envy. Does anyone know what kind of animal he is?
Pictured in Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo.

It's more likely to be a meerkat alright. One of the photos in the wikipedia page shows a meerkat sitting on a large mound like my shot above.. Thanks :)

It is a meerkat. I was watching a documentary about them not that long ago & they are said to be quite like humans. They're actually quite interesting & funny animals! :D

Great capture by the way! :)

This is a good shot - capturing the personanlity of the meerkat nicely. A little more contrast perhaps would improve this pic.

I would second Snelvis's remarks. The emotion captured in this image is what makes it good and unique. I think that sense of emotion could be made even stronger with some contrast and deeper colors.

Perhaps as a start, if you are into post-processing, I would bring out the blacks in the animal's face and dodge the black background behind him on the right. I'd also bring attention to the other subjects of the photo - the two hills by a bit more saturation or by placing a vignette around them to unfocus the background.

Good catch.
