All Spun Up Merino

All Spun Up Merino by donnatakespictures.
This is the All Spun Up superwash merino spinalong fiber for May - a birthday present to myself since I have been dying to make handspun socks. The spindle is a .45 oz cherry Golding Tsunami (another birthday present) and this is my first time spinning merino, which is why it looks a little thick and thin; I practiced on an Ashland Bay merino/silk blend, so merino all by itself doesn't seem quite as challenging. Since I'm spindling, I expect this to take approximately forever - hopefully I can finish in a few months.

Pretty pretty pretty! I envy your golding! Is it true that they're incredibly well balanced and long spinning?

Jan, the Golding was a great investment - I started a discussion here about what weight (light or lighter) might be best, and off I went. It is true, the Golding is very well-balanced and has a nice long spin - it would be good for fibers requiring extra twist, like silk. Sorry to enable, but I couldn't be happier with my choice. I also have a Bosworth on the way, but I'm pretty far down on the Moosie list, so it will be at least 6-7 months; that's why I talked myself into the Golding.

Such a cute description! Have fun spinning for socks! I started doing the same thing about a month ago - amazingly enough, it's going pretty quickly. I find if I spin a little every day it really adds up. I would have even more spun up, but I've taken several long breaks from my spindle in the process.

Beautiful fiber! Yum!
