Donna Goodhue, St. Johnsbury Freecycle (TM)
I found myself without a vehicle in May of 2007. I caught rides to work, took cabs when I could afford it, and often walked the 5 miles (one way) to work. In November, someone on a neighboring group posted a 1994 Saturn SC1, saying it needed an alternator. I responded to it and received word that I had been chosen to receive the car. We rented a car dolly and drove the 30 miles to get the car. My son boosted the vehicle and it ran. We brought it home and replaced the battery, plugs, and wires. A friend patched the hole in the fender, and the car was suitable for road use.
This wonderful gift has made it much easier for me to get to work, but also enabled me to transport my husband to and from two knee surgeries. Without Freecycle (TM), I would still be walking to work. Donna Goodhue, St Johnsbury Freecycle Commentsdonnagoodhue says:Only 15 to a gallon right now. I need to
change the transmission fluid and do some
other minor things to it. It gets me to and
from work, though!
