borrowed from lat. fusio (-onis) "the pouring, the blending", abstract noun of lat. fundere. first used in its definite meaning of blending, later generalised meaning and transfer. also see Fondue.

figurative meaning
combining, blending or merging subjects from two or more images into a single image. for example, 2 photographers take 2 photos of 1 subject and make 1 fusion of both. this specific processing requires a particular coordination in time and size management and a certain amount of freak level on the photographer's basis. the quality or even the fun factor of the fusion's result usually depend on the photographer's sense of creativity and lunacy rather than on the single picture's awesomeness.
