FYI: The lift is made by a company called Rincon. It is a special design for San Francisco, called a duo-fold. The Orion low floor buses don't kneel so well, so the ramp slope when it is deployed directly to the street is very steep. SFMTA asked for a longer ramp to decrease the slope and make boarding easier.
Unfortunately, the slope is still a bit too steep for some manual chair users to independently board - so drivers may have to assist them in boarding the vehicle. No one is in favor of this procedure (especially the drivers!), but maybe it will provide a greater impoetus for them to actually pull to the curb to load riders? Loading from the curb, the ramp is a dream.
