I couldn't resist buying Spam when I saw the 70th Anniversary can at Wal-Mart. Eating it brought back memories of my Army days--1943-1946. I saved the can and recently shot this image on my kitchen table using existing ight.

I named our dog "Spam" in 1988 in honor of the 50th anniversary. He's no longer with us, however.

When I go camping, I occasionally take a can or two. I slice it and roast it on a stick over the fire. I like it, but I prefer the low sodium kind these days--better for the blood pressure. I'll have to look for this can in the Wal-Mart when I go later this week. Thanks for sharing your memories Don!

I have never heard about it, but it is nice to see it and read about it on Flickr.

Dad would fix the best SPAM suppers -- sometime SPAMburgers, sometimes baked glazed SPAM w/pineapple. He would ask if everything was alright. I was quick to tell him NO 'cause it was never enough. He added another can for future SPAM meals. SPAM is heavenly. I bet Wal-Mart didn't do a price rollback to match the original cost.

We used to buy and eat it on maneuvers in the Army. It was better than some of the K rations.
